Space Reimagined: Smart Storage Solutions and Decluttering Tips for Fall

September 25, 2025
Related Life

Seasonal transitions are the perfect time to tackle tasks like decluttering and transitioning your wardrobe and decor. But where and how do you store it all? We spoke with innovative storage-solution company Space Reimagined (or just Space for short) to get the scoop on how they’re transforming traditional storage, plus simplified tips for decluttering your space—just in time for the start of fall.

How Space Works

Space is truly reinventing—and simplifying—how storage works. The best part is, they’ve partnered with UPS, providing secure and convenient pick-up, storage, and delivery anywhere across the country.

“Space flips the script on traditional self-storage by removing all the friction,” Tom Stevenson, Space founder and CEO, tells us. Instead of driving to and managing a unit yourself, Stevenson tells us that Space offers:

• Free delivery of heavy-duty boxes and tape strips.

• Free scheduled UPS pickups and returns, nationwide.

• Digital inventory tracking with descriptions and photos of what’s in each box.

• Real-time notifications on box movements.

“Think: no need for trips across town, no padlocks, no forgetting what’s in your unit,” Stevenson explains. “Just open your app, tap, and manage everything from your phone.”

Space—A Step-by-Step Process

Traditional storage units come with some common woes. What if you need to store just a few boxes? Or you don’t want the hassle of dealing with the unknowns and expenses that come with renting a traditional storage unit? Space is the answer to all the common storage problems. Below, Stevenson takes us through Space’s simple step-by-step process—from request to return.

  1. Online Booking: Order your boxes via Space’s iOS or web app.
  2. Packing: Pack your things, cataloging what’s in each box as you go along, and snap photos to create a digital inventory—all within the Space app.
  3. Pickup: Schedule a next-day UPS pickup from your home.
  4. Storage: Boxes are stored in secure, climate-controlled UPS facilities.
  5. On-Demand Return: Need something back? Use the Space app to schedule a UPS pickup or delivery at an address of your choosing. Have it delivered wherever you are, at the tap of a button. Unlimited, nationwide shipping is included in the monthly box cost.
  6. Notifications: Each Space box has a unique serial number, so you’ll always know its status. Get alerts when boxes are en route, in storage, or delivered back to you.

“This removes every friction point of traditional storage: driving, schlepping, and storage unit Tetris,” Stevenson explains.

Space’s “Visual Storage Map”

Another common problem with traditional storage units and storing methods—it’s easy to pack belongings into boxes and forget what’s stored in them. That’s why even the most detailed box labels and clear storage containers are no match for Space’s visual and detailed storage system. Plus, it’s at your fingertips 24/7.

“Space gives you a visual, organized storage map in your pocket,” Stevenson explains. Stevenson says that key features include:

• Photo-based inventory lists.

• Ability to name and detail each box individually (e.g. “Baby Clothes Newborn-12 months”).

• Categorizing and tagging items.

• Real-time alerts on pickup, delivery, and tracking updates.

Space’s method helps you avoid double-buying items you’ve stored away and forgotten. Stevenson notes that the app makes it easy to visualize, track, and request belongings from anywhere, anytime.

Top Decluttering Tips for Fall

Fall is the perfect time to give Space a try. Whether it’s seasonal decluttering, organizing kids’ clothing before back-to-school, rotating out your warm-weather wardrobe, or storing away summer gear, Space has you covered.

Stevenson suggests that the secret is a seasonal handoff system:

• Store summer-only items (beach gear, pool toys, and camping equipment).

• Rotate your wardrobe (pack up swimsuits, sundresses, and sandals).

• Properly inventory each box with a name, itemized list of contents, and a photo so you’re ready to flip the switch again in the spring.

• Use vacuum-seal bags, packing cubes, or similar products to properly pack and protect your stored items and make the seasonal switch a breeze.

“Think of it like setting your thermostat for fall,” Stevenson tells us. “One quick adjustment, and everything shifts into place with Space.”

Tips on Transitioning Your Closet With Space

Of all the spaces mentioned above, tackling seasonal wardrobe transitions might seem the most difficult. But, like most things, Space turns a dreaded task into something seamless.

“When closet space is limited, seasonal transitions need to be efficient,” Stevenson says. With Space, Stevenson explains that Related residents can:

• Pack away summer wardrobe essentials like linen sets, sundresses, and sandals.

• Store beach towels, swimwear, and travel bags that won’t be needed for months.

• Tuck away summer sports gear like pickleball paddles or basketballs.

• Schedule on-demand returns in spring, delivered right back to your door.

“No overstuffed closets, no hauling bins—just smart, stress-free storage made for apartment life,” Stevenson reassures us.

A Simplified Decluttering Workflow

Still intimidated by decluttering? Stevenson shares these easy-to-follow tips for getting organized with Space:

  1. Sort what’s needed vs. not needed this season.
  2. Pack items into Space’s custom, heavy-duty boxes.
  3. Catalog the contents of each box by following the packing flow within the Space app.
  4. Schedule pickup with UPS through the Space app.
  5. Access Your Digital Inventory anytime you want something back.

Stress-Free Ways to Store Seasonal and Holiday Decor

Shortly after the start of fall, some of the biggest seasonal celebrations are on the horizon—Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the winter holidays. But with Space, “holiday magic doesn’t have to come with mess,” Stevenson tells us.

First, Stevenson says to use Space’s digital tools to make seasonal decor organization easier than ever:

• Tag boxes (e.g., “Holiday decor”).

• Group by season or room with folders.

• Upload photos of contents.

For winter holidays, specifically, Stevenson encourages the following:

• Pack fragile ornaments in provided heavy-duty boxes.

• Group string lights, wreaths, and tableware separately.

• Label each box by holiday and room (e.g., “Christmas: Living Room”).

• Use notes and photos to identify items for next year.

And even though it feels far away, Space can help keep the post-holiday chaos organized, too. Stevenson shares these simple steps:

• Schedule a pickup right after the holidays to reclaim your space.

• Use the app to tag and document decor so you’ll know exactly what’s stored.

• Next year, just search by tag and request a return. Your decor arrives at your door.

“No attic digging. No tangled lights. Just pure efficiency,” Stevenson says. Now, that sounds like a happy holiday. We bet Space is pretty good at New Year’s decluttering, too, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here….
